5 weeks before move
Moving. Contact moving companies for estimates and information. Tip: book well in advance as key times of the year can be very busy.
Documents. Make an inventory of everything to be moved.
Moving. Start working your way through each room taking inventory and deciding what to get rid of. Start planning a yard sale or contact your local charities.
Moving. Contact the charity for date/time of pickup. Save receipts for tax records.
Packing. Get cartons and packing materials to start packing now, unless you have packing services.

4 weeks before move

Services. Research the financial situation your new country. Open a new bank account and change your currency if necessary.
Services. Research insurance options in your new country. Your present insurance may or may not be valid after you move and you may need to buy new insurance in your new country.

3 weeks before move

Packing. Check into storage options for those items you cannot move immediately and may need to store temporarily.

1 weeks before move
